Adobe Acrobat is a family of application software developed by Adobe Systems to view, create, manipulate, print and manage files in Portable Document Format (PDF).

Adobe Reader is a free download from Adobe that lets you read PDF files. Adobe Acrobat is a licensed software that lets users create and edit PDF documents.

Adobe Acrobat Professional is located in the American Paint image in the Stable.

1. Open the File in Adobe Acrobat Professional (American Paint).

2. Go to Document and then Reduce File Size.

3. When asked about compatibilty, leave it compatiable with only the most recent version.

4. Give it a file name and save.

Log into Atomic Learning and type in the product such as Adobe Illustrator. Check the newer version number and then look for the “What’s New? Training" and it will give you an overview class of the updates.

Additionally when you "Expand all" in you class you will see some topics with red italicized "New to product name"

If you are scanning texts into Acrobat, it's good practice to take the following steps before sharing them so that the file size will be smaller and the document easier to download and print: 

1. Document > OCR Text Recognition > Recognize Text Using OCR (this recognizes the text and reduces the file size a lot)

2. Document > Reduce File Size, then choose Acrobat 7.0 (this is the backwards-compatibility issue mentioned above)

3. Document > Optimized Scanned PDF, then make sure the indicator is somewhere in the middle between Smaller File and Higher Quality.

Adobe Dreamweaver is a web authoring and editing software that provides both visual and code-level capabilities for creating standards-based websites and designs for the desktop, smartphones, tablets, and other devices.

1. Open Adobe Acrobat Professional (White Icon with a Red A)

2. Click on the "Create PDF" Button

3. Choose "Create from Multiple Files"

4. In the Add Files Section, Click on Browse and browse to the files you want to add.

5. When you are done adding files, you may arrange the files in the order you choose.

6. When you are done, Click Ok. 

7. The PDF will combine all the files, click on Save to safe your file.

Log into Atomic Learning go.wlu.edu/learn and search for Adobe Illustrator. You can take the entire class or search for the topic and watch what you need assistance with at that time.

There is a problem running the latest version of FlipShare (the software that manages all your Flip videos) on older PCs. Basically, the software detects the processor on your computer and if your processor is not up to its standard, it will shut down, giving you an error message. 

The solution is to download and install the older version of Flipshare. First uninstall Flipshare (Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs), then download and install "Flip Video For PC" v3.7 from here:

Office 2010 applications
    Click the File tab, and then click Option.
    Click Add-Ins on the left side of the dialog box.
    Do one of the following:
        If PDFMOutlook or Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Add-in is not listed, choose COM Add-Ins from the Manage pop-up menu and click Go.
        If PDFMOutlook or Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Add-in is listed under Disabled Application Add-ins, select Disabled Items from the Manage pop-up menu and click Go.

    Select PDFMOutlook or Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Add-in and click OK.
    Restart the Office application.

If you can find a message in the folder 

Open the message and then hit Control-Shift-F to bring up Advanced Find

At the top right is a ‘Browse’ button

Click browse and it will show you the hierarchical location of the folder your current message resides in

Go to the folder and drag your lost folder back up to your name@wlu.edu folder

The user still had the document that was attached to the e-mail open.  When the original document was closed the e-mail message was sent.

This error occurs sometimes when using Firefox or Safari to access your Outlook Live account. Here's how to fix the problem:

In Firefox, go to tools, options, then click the privacy tab and click "remove individual cookies".  Then search for outlook and delete all OUTLOOK.COM cookies.  It should now work.  This method may vary in different browsers and versions of firefox.

In Safari, go Preferences/Security/Show Cookies and delete all OUTLOOK.COM cookies.

*Do NOTdelete ALL Cookies - just the outlook.com ones!*

This occurs if you DOUBLE-click the link instead of using a single click.  The error comes from the second instance conflicting with the first instance.

This is usually caused by the following situation:

1.) The user is logged in as a@b.com.
2.) In the user's inbox there are two digests, one for a@b.com and one for c@b.com.
3.) The user is clicking on a message in the c@b.com digest in their inbox which tries to link them into the Portal directly to that message.
4.) However, since they are logged in as a@b.com, they have no rights to the message.

To remedy the situation they need to examine the subject line of the digest they are clicking on, and log into the Portal as the user specified in the subject of the digest.

In Outlook 2007 and domain computers, there is a group policy object in place that prevents caching mode.  If a computer is NOT in the domain OR is using Outlook 2010, then that policy does not apply, and by default, cached mode gets turned on. 

To turn it off, go to File, Account Settings, Account Settings.  Select her name, hit change.  “Use cached exchange mode” should be unchecked.

Restart Outlook

Version 40 of Firefox intentionally disables authenticated content embedded in unauthenticated web pages if the page and content are in different domains. 

This can be manually fixed by:

• typing “about:config” in the address bar
• clicking “I’ll be careful, I promise!”
• searching for the Preference Name:  network.auth.allow-subresource-auth
• Click the “1” next to that in the Value column and change to “2”
• click OK. 

Once you refresh the page it will prompt for login. 

This error may have been caused by opening four or more WebAdvisor hyperlink windows. For example, if a user is reviewing their budget and clicks on the Actuals, which opens a new window, then clicks on a Voucher, which opens a new window;  and the user does not close any of the child windows, and attempts to select another Actual, they will get the error.

All child windows must be closed using the CLOSE WINDOW button. If the user uses the browser's red X to close the windows, they will still get the error and be forced to log out and back in to WebAdvisor.

If this does not solve the problem you may need to review and then delete the webadvisor stored cookies.

In Chrome - Chrome Settings/Advanced/Content Settings/All Cookies &Site Data/Search "WebAdvisor"/ and Click X to to right of webadvisor.wlu.edu cookie to delete it
