How do I look up a student's advisor (WebAdvisor)? (link)

1. In WebAdvisor: Go to the student profile page, enter a student's ID, and part of the information that will appear includes Advisor Name, email, etc.

2. In Colleague, many of the departmental administrative assistants have access to certain screens designated by the Registrar. On one or more of those screens, this information exists. So faculty could check with these departmental administrative assistants as well.

Why is a pay period record missing on my Time History screen in Webadvisor, even though I was paid for those days? (link)

If you do not electronically sign and submit your time card to your supervisor, there is no web transaction to display for that pay period in the Time History screen on Webadvisor. What happens is your default work schedule, or days you entered manually, are pulled into payroll and the verifications are done through the normal payroll files. There is no detail from the web that was saved to reference. Also, at this point, any verification of hours or approvals needed are done by the Payroll Department in conjunction with your supervisor before you are paid.

I'm getting the error "The maximum number of cookie values has been reached" when I am logged into WebAdvisor. The same issue will happen with Student workflows, Web Time Entry Workflows, etc. (link)

This error may have been caused by opening four or more WebAdvisor hyperlink windows. For example, if a user is reviewing their budget and clicks on the Actuals, which opens a new window, then clicks on a Voucher, which opens a new window;  and the user does not close any of the child windows, and attempts to select another Actual, they will get the error.

All child windows must be closed using the CLOSE WINDOW button. If the user uses the browser's red X to close the windows, they will still get the error and be forced to log out and back in to WebAdvisor.

If this does not solve the problem you may need to review and then delete the webadvisor stored cookies.

In Chrome - Chrome Settings/Advanced/Content Settings/All Cookies &Site Data/Search "WebAdvisor"/ and Click X to to right of webadvisor.wlu.edu cookie to delete it

How do I enter my hours? (link)

1. Login to http://webadvisor.wlu.edu

2. Choose employee from the menu
 
3. Choose Time Entry from the menu at the lower left side of the page.
 
4. Pick your Helpdesk job from the list:
 
5. Fill in your hours and click submit:
 
6. Click OK to confirm:

How do I request a Colleague Account? (link)

If you need access to Colleague, please go to https://managementtools.wlu.edu/AccessRequest/ and request an account. Once the proper approvals are granted, an account will be set up for you. Accounts are set up on an individual basis and they should not be shared with anyone.

How do I set up my account on a Kindle? (link)

1.    To begin using the Kindle, you will need to register it with your Amazon account. If you do not have an Amazon account, one can be easily created for free online. http://www.amazon.com/

2.     Use the 5-Way Control Knob to navigate the cursor to “Register” and click the control knob to select. Then type in your Amazon account email address and password to activate the device under your account and navigate down to “Select”. PLEASE BE SURE TO DEREGISTER THE DEVICE BEFORE RETURNING IT TO THE LIBRARY (see steps 6 and 7).

3.     In order to view items currently on the Kindle, hit the “Home” key and if the top of the screen does not say “Showing All ~ Items”, go to the top of the screen and navigate the cursor left to scroll between “Personal Documents” (PDFs, etc), “Subscriptions” (Newspapers, Magazines, and Blogs), “Books” (Amazon Kindle Books), and “All My Items” (All Items). Select the type of content you want, and browse.

4.     In order to put new content on the Kindle, you can either purchase and download content wirelessly from Amazon in the Kindle Store (accessed by hitting the “Menu” button and selecting “Shop in Kindle Store”), or you can add content directly by plugging it into your computer through the provided USB cable. Once you have plugged in the kindle to your computer, simply moved the desired files into the “Kindle” folder that will appear automatically under My Computer, and they will appear under “Personal Documents” on the Kindle.

5.     While viewing a document, flip between pages using the “Prev Page” and “Next Page” buttons. You can also using the “Aa” key on the keyboard to change the size of the font, screen rotation, and Text-to-Speech options.

6.     Before returning the Kindle, please check in “Personal Docs” (see step 2) to ensure that all of your documents have been deleted (navigate down to the document and press the directional knob to the left, then select delete, and confirm deletion) to ensure your items will not be left for future patrons.

7.     Before returning the Kindle, PLEASE BE SURE TO DEREGISTER THE DEVICE FROM YOUR AMAZON ACCOUNT. This is to ensure that no future patrons could accidentally access the Amazon Store through your account to purchase books or other content. Hit the “Menu” button, and scroll down to “Settings”. Once in the “Settings and Device Information” screen, navigate to and select “Deregister” and select “OK” in the following dialogue box.

I'm a departing faculty/staff member. How do I move my files out of my W&L Box.com account to a personal account? (link)

Go to Box.com and create a personal account using a personal email address, such as a gmail or yahoo account. in your W&L Box.com account, add that account as a collaborator on the files you'd like to move. Log into the personal account and download the files that you need to that account.

Students who have phone service on the W&L system may obtain their current long distance balance any time through our Telecom Online web page. Log on to http://sunbelt/phonebill/login.jsp/. You will need your long distance authorization code to access your personal information.

How do I set up my Faculty or Staff email account on my Android device? (link)

These instructions provide a general map for configuring your account. If your Android menues offer you different choices than those decribed below try to pick the closest match.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Choose "Accounts & Sync"
  3. Remove any non-functioning accounts
  4. Choose "Add Account"
  5. Choose "Exchange and Active Sync"
  6. Choose "Manual Setup"
  7. Enter your email address
  8. Enter "owa.wlu.edu" as your Server address
  9. Enter "ad" as your Domain
  10. Enter your username as "ad.wlu.edu\username" and password
  11. Check the  "This server requires an encrypted SSL connection." Box.
  12. Choose "Next"
  13. Select the items you wish to sync. 
  14. Choose "Finish Setup"
  15. At this point you will be asked to accept the security policy and set a PIN if you do not have one.

You will have 30 days after your departure date to move your data out of your W&L Box.com account. At the point that your W&L network account becomes inactive, you will no longer be able to access your W&L Box.com account.

The app I'm using on my [iPhone, iPad, Android] won't let me save to my Box at W&L account. It says the app is disabled. How do I request that it be enabled? (link)
