1. Open the Word Document.

2. Click on File in the upper Left hand corner.

3. Click on Save As

4. Choose PDF from the Save as type drop down.

5. Name the file and click save.

The PDF will be created in the same folder as the original word document.

Anti-Virus Software (Windows)

To install anti-virus software on your computer you must first uninstall any other antivirus software you might have before installing ours. Then click on the link Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows 7/Vista/XP and install using Internet Explorer.

Microsoft Office 2007 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

First, make sure that each carafe is at least half full. Then cut your bagel in half and wrap each half in a paper towel. Place each half the wrapped bagel face first onto a heating plate on the coffee maker, then place the coffee carafe on top of it. The hotplate will heat the face of the bagel, while the pot heats the top of it. DO NOT LEAVE THE BAGEL UNATTENDED. After two minutes you should test the Bagel for doneness.

PhoneMail has two access numbers. The number you dial is determined by the last digit of your phone number.

2. Dial your extension number followed by #. Special Note for Residents Sharing a Room and Phone: Double room residents must add a 1 or a 2 after your extension number while accessing PhoneMail. Names are loaded alphabetically. For example, if Sarah Bailey and Ann Jones share extension 4005, Sarah's PhoneMail box will be 40051 and Ann's will be 40052.
3. Dial your password and press "#".
4. Follow the PhoneMail prompts for options available to you.

   TIP: If you are in a single room and accessing PhoneMail from your own extension, you can simply press # in step 2 above.

If your computer crashes or the Office 2010 application you are using fails click on "File" > "Options" > " Save" and look for the "Auto Recovery file location". Copy that location and paste in into your Run window (Start > Run in XP Start > Search files and folders in Windows 7).  You can also browse to this location.

If you do not find your document use Search to search for any file that was created during the timeframe you worked on your document. While you work on a document temporary files are created and by opening these files ( .tmp files) with word or wordpad you may find your document.

Outlook 2010/2013

1. While logged in to Outlook select File Tab and click on Account Settings.
2. In the Account Settings window highlight your Microsoft Exchange account and select Change.
3. In the Change E-mail Account window select the More Settings button.
4. Navigate to the Advanced tab.
5. In the ‘Open these additional mailboxes’ display select the ‘Add’ button.
6. Enter the name of the shared mailbox and select OK.
7. Select OK again and close all previous windows.
8. You will now have a permanent link to the shared mailbox in your mail folder hierarchy.
9. NOTE: Sent Items behavior can be configured in one of two ways. To set the Sent Item configuration, login to the shared mailbox through  OWA, Select Options, Settings, and the  Sent Items tab:

   • Sender: Copies the message to the Sent Items folder of the sender only  (set by default)
   • SenderAndFrom: Copies the message to the Sent Items folder of both the sender and the shared mailbox

This error occurs sometimes when using Firefox or Safari to access your Outlook Live account. Here's how to fix the problem:

In Firefox, go to tools, options, then click the privacy tab and click "remove individual cookies".  Then search for outlook and delete all OUTLOOK.COM cookies.  It should now work.  This method may vary in different browsers and versions of firefox.

In Safari, go Preferences/Security/Show Cookies and delete all OUTLOOK.COM cookies.

go to http://sakai.wlu.edu/portal/pda and log in. This interface 

makes it much easier to check on your classes when you're not at

1. Within your IMAP client add a new mail account
2. For the full name field enter the shared mailbox name (or the name you would like to display when an email is sent from this account)
3. For email address enter the SMTP email address for the shared mailbox.
4. For password enter your own password
5. For username enter ad/youraccountname/shared-mailbox-name (ex: ad/smithj/shredmail). Set account type to IMAP
6. Set incoming mail server to owa.wlu.edu
7. Set connection security to SSL/TLS using port 993
8. Set the Outgoing Server to use SMTPA, and use your email/password for authentication.  You will not acutally use this, but most IMAP connection require this step.

Version 40 of Firefox intentionally disables authenticated content embedded in unauthenticated web pages if the page and content are in different domains. 

This can be manually fixed by:

• typing “about:config” in the address bar
• clicking “I’ll be careful, I promise!”
• searching for the Preference Name:  network.auth.allow-subresource-auth
• Click the “1” next to that in the Value column and change to “2”
• click OK. 

Once you refresh the page it will prompt for login. 

If you need access to Colleague, please go to https://managementtools.wlu.edu/AccessRequest/ and request an account. Once the proper approvals are granted, an account will be set up for you. Accounts are set up on an individual basis and they should not be shared with anyone. In most cases, when dealing with course and student information, the Registrar’s office will provide some level of training or guidance on how to access the data you require.

If you already have access to Colleague but cannot remember your login information or have issues accessing the system, go to http://webhelpdesk.wlu.edu and create a ticket under the category of Administrative Data – Colleague Issues/Requests. Once submitted, the ticket will be automatically routed to the appropriate person who can help you resolve problems.
